Metal and Non Metals

Metal and Non Metal Element: An Element id the substance which is made up of entirely one kind of atoms. For example hydrogen, helium etc. Metals : Metals are those elements which lose their electron to gain positive charge. for example Sodium (Na), Potassium (K) etc. Non Metals: These are those elements which gain the the electron to attain the negative charge. For example Neon (Ne) Argon (Ar) Physical properties of the Metals:  The following are the physical properties of metal : Malleability: The property of the metals due to which they can be beaten into the sheets is called as the malleability. Most the metals are malleable in the nature. Gold (Au) is the most Malleable element. 2. Ductility : The property of the metals due to which they can be drawn into the wires is called as the Ductility. Most the metals are ductile in the nature. Gold (Au) is also  the most ductile 3. Sonorous : It is the property of metals due to which they produce ringing sound. Usually Metals pro...

Genetics, Heredity and Evolution

GENETICS AND HEREDITY & Evolution    Basic Terms:  HEREDITY: The process of transmission of characters   from   parents to their offsprings called as heredity. Variation: The process of arising the difference among the individuals of same species is called as variation. It is of two types: 1) Somatic variation : The variation arising externally in an organism i.e., the external visible variation of an organism are called as somatic variation. 2) Germinal variation : The internal variations which affect the genes of an organism are called as germinal variation. EVOLUTION: The gradual change which occurs in organisms is called as evolution. GENETICS: The branch of the biology which deals with the study of heredity and evolution is called as genetics. Gregor Johann Mendel is known as the FATHER OF MODERN GENETICS. GENE : Gene is a smaller part of DNA which carries all the traits of an organism. There are 23 pair of chromosomes in human beings. Life Processes

LIFE PROCESS Q1. Why is diffusion insufficient to meet the oxygen requirements of multi-cellular organisms like humans? Ans. Multicellular organisms have millions of cells and thus their energy requirement is also too high. Since, the every cell o0f the Multicellular organism cannot be brought into the direct contact with atmospheric oxygen. Therefore, diffusion insufficient to meet the oxygen requirements of multi-cellular. Q2. What criteria do we use to decide whether something is alive? Ans. To decide whether an organism is living or not, we consider the following factors:- a). It must be capable of reproduction. b). It must be able to show the locomotion and other type of movements. c). It must carry the various life process such as digestion, respiration, excretion etc. Q3. What are outside raw materials used for by an organism? Ans.
